Bald Butte Lavender Farm

Our Premium Dried Lavender Bundles are made using long-stem (20 to 24 inches) hybrid lavender cultivars which have a pleasant natural camphor fragrance. Unlike fresh lavender bouquets, dried bundles are available throughout the year depending on our current inventory. All leaves are stripped from the lavender stems following harvest. The stems are then grouped into approximately 2-inch diameter bundles (base of flower heads), secured using a rubber band, and hung upside down to dry for 2+ weeks. Hanging the bundles upside down draws the essential oils down into the buds making them more fragrant. Smaller diameter bundles avoid the risk of mold formation from excessive moisture. The bundles are hung in our barn which is a cool, dry place with good circulation, and no direct sunlight which can fade the lavender buds and dissipate the fragrance.  Dried bundles should be placed in a vase (after removing rubber bands) without water, and no direct sunlight or wind to maintain their color and fragrance. The dried bundles can last for months or even years.
